CatSci’s Dr Alice Dunbabin Invited to Speak at the Scientific Update 8th Winter Process Chemistry Conference 2022

CatSci Ltd are pleased to share that one of our Senior Scientists, Dr Alice Dunbabin, has been invited to speak at Scientific Update’s Winter Process Chemistry Conference 2022. The 8th Winter Process Chemistry Conference will feature a host of international chemists showcasing their research on all aspects of Process Development.

Taking place on 5th – 7th December, Alice will be speaking at the conference on Wednesday. She will be delivering a presentation entitled “In-KRED-ible Potential: Biocatalysis for the Synthesis of Pharmaceutical Intermediates.”

In her presentation, Alice will be exploring how biocatalysis offers many advantages over chemocatalytic processes, not only due to the sustainable nature of biocatalysts and benign reaction conditions, but the exquisite selectivity which enzymes can offer. She will showcase how use of ketoreductase enzymes (KREDs) in the asymmetric reduction of ketones was employed to access a range of generic pharmaceutical intermediates. and the positive results that were achieved. Alice will also be discussing approaches to reaction optimisation and cofactor recycling, as well as challenges in the scale-up and isolation of products from a process chemistry perspective.

We are incredibly proud that Alice has been invited to speak at this event, and we are sure her insight and expertise in biocatalysis and ketoreductase enzymes will be informative and insightful to all attendees.
