CatSci Made Finalists for Two Awards

20th October 2021

CatSci is incredibly proud to announce that we’ve been shortlisted as finalists for not one, but two awards. We are delighted that we are a finalist in Cardiff Business Awards’ Employer of the Year award, as well as the In-House Recruitment Award for Recruitment Innovation.

We are thrilled that our commitment to making our business a supportive and accessible place for our employees has been recognised by these two nominations, as our people are truly at the heart of our company. We are dedicated to supporting our staff in all areas: in their career progression, development, and gaining new qualifications. As well as aiding their professional life, we also promote the positive wellbeing of our employees. Our WellCat program looks to improve the mental health of our staff, from lunchtime activities, quizzes and specialist speakers, to a wellbeing bonus to encourage employees to invest in their own mental health.

We have also achieved a Level 2 certification from the Government’s Disability Confident Scheme, which reflects our commitment to recruiting and retaining people with disabilities, and ensuring that they have all the opportunities available to excel.

The In-House Recruitment Award nomination showcases our innovative approach to hiring new members of the CatSci team, especially in the wake of COVID-19. We created virtual assessment centres utilising the REMO platform; this allowed us to create a “speed-dating” style interview process where each candidate had several five-minute interviews with a series of assessors. From this method, we were able to get a well-rounded feel for each applicant, as well as offering candidates the opportunity to show off their skills and expertise in a relaxing and more personal manner. After we changed our process to this method, we were able to take 1 in 3 candidates to the final stage interview, whereas the previous process we used produced 1 in 4.

Our recruitment of global pharma leaders and future talent is contributing significantly to Wales’ growing STEM sector. We work closely with Careers Wales and are launching an ambassadors’ and role model scheme to inspire students into why a career in chemistry could be for them.

These two nominations come at the same time as our 10 year anniversary, and we cannot think of a better way to celebrate. For the past decade, we have been a trusted and reliable partner for innovation dedicated to accelerating medicines development, and it is our incredible team that makes this a reality. We will continue to be an employee-first business so that we can meet our customers’ project needs with effectiveness, efficiency and a powerhouse team at the forefront.
