We’re thrilled to share that CatSci has been awarded a Gold EcoVadis sustainability rating, scoring 82/100 in our 2026 assessment. Gold places us in the top 5% of companies assessed by EcoVadis worldwide, and is our highest rating to date.

This recognition is the result of our teams’ remarkable efforts: over the last four years, we’ve improved our score from 49/100 to 82/100, reflecting the dedication, continuous improvement and collaboration of colleagues right across CatSci.

EcoVadis is a globally recognised provider of business sustainability ratings. It independently assesses companies across four themes: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Gold is awarded to companies at or above the 95th percentile of all assessments completed in the previous 12 months.

Four years of progress

The Gold rating is the result of a sustained, year-on-year effort. We first took part in the assessment in 2023 and have improved our score every year since:

YearScoreMedal
202682/100Gold
202575/100Silver
202461/100Bronze
202349/100No medal

This reflects CatSci’s commitment to continuous improvement and collaboration right across the business.

Sustainability built into how we work

At CatSci, sustainability shapes decision-making, drives innovation and directs action, from our chemistry to our culture. Our mission is to accelerate the development of life-changing medicines, and to do so responsibly.

Through our dedicated ESG strategy, we embed sustainability into every part of the business: minimising environmental impact, fostering an inclusive culture, and maintaining transparent, ethical governance across all operations.

An ongoing commitment

Our Gold rating builds on a track record of independently recognised progress:

  • 2025 Annual Sustainability Report: Prepared in consideration of GRI, CDP, SBTi and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It reported a 20% reduction in like-for-like Scope 1 emissions and our net zero target for 2045.
  • My Green Lab certification: Our Dagenham laboratory achieved Green, the highest level of certification, improving its score from 56% to 92%. This follows Platinum and Silver certifications for our Cardiff laboratories in 2021.
  • Across the CatSci Group: Reach Separations’ Nottingham site has also achieved My Green Lab certification at Green level.

Our EcoVadis Gold achievement has been led by Andy Wood, Head of Project Management, and Katie Hawker, Head of Finance, working alongside our ESG committee.

Mark Bate, Chief Business Officer at CatSci, said: “Achieving EcoVadis Gold is a fantastic milestone for CatSci, and it’s particularly rewarding to see how far we’ve come in four years, from no medal in 2023 to Gold today. Sustainability is now a non-negotiable for our pharma partners. This rating gives them independent proof that CatSci is a partner they can trust today and grow with tomorrow. It reflects the hard work and collaboration of teams right across CatSci, and I’d particularly like to thank Andy Wood, Katie Hawker and our ESG committee for the leadership and persistence they’ve brought to our sustainability agenda.”

We will continue to build on this progress as part of our long-term ESG strategy. Find out more about our ESG commitments.
