CatSci Ltd<\/a> were honoured to welcome His Majesty\u2019s Lord-Lieutenant of South Glamorgan, Mrs Morfudd Meredith, to their Cardiff Site on Wednesday 29th<\/sup> March 2023. This special visit was to commemorate CatSci\u2019s monumental achievement in winning The Queen\u2019s Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2022<\/a>. Mrs Meredith presented CatSci with their esteemed award, and also officially opened their new state-of-the-art Oligonucleotide laboratory<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winning The Queen\u2019s Award for Enterprise 2022 was a tremendous achievement for CatSci. It reflects the hard work, talent and commitment of the whole CatSci team. The esteemed award is also a testament to CatSci\u2019s innovative export strategy and cutting-edge scientific expertise; it solidifies their position as a dynamic, agile and world-class innovation partner for medicines development. After presenting The Queen\u2019s Award, the Lord-Lieutenant discussed with staff CatSci\u2019s impressive contribution to the growing Welsh STEM sector and its significant impact on expediting the delivery of life-changing medicines to patients worldwide.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n

As well as presenting CatSci with their award, the Lord-Lieutenant also opened CatSci\u2019s state-of-the-art Oligonucleotide laboratory<\/a>, based in their Cardiff HQ. Oligonucleotides are an emerging modality offering new therapeutic opportunities to treat previously unmet patients\u2019 needs. The laboratory is kitted with the latest high-end equipment; CatSci\u2019s new offering will accelerate the development and manufacture of these complex molecules, and answer more of their customers\u2019 dynamic portfolio demands.\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CatSci\u2019s Oligonucleotide R&D and Manufacturing offering will be led by Dr Nigel Richardson<\/a>, CatSci\u2019s Director of New Modalities. Nigel has decades of experience in the oligonucleotides space, having previously led GSK\u2019s oligonucleotide therapy for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy into the final stages of development and regulatory submission.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

His Majesty\u2019s Lord-Lieutenant said of the visit: \u201cWarmest congratulations to CatSci on their outstanding achievement in winning the prestigious Queen\u2019s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category in the year that our late monarch Queen Elizabeth II marked her historic 70 year reign. This award is considered one of the highest accolades to be bestowed on a UK business and is thoroughly deserved.\u201d\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Ross Burn<\/a>, CatSci\u2019s CEO and Co-Founder, said of the Lord Lieutenant\u2019s visit: \u201cIt was a great honour to both CatSci and myself to have His Majesty\u2019s Lord-Lieutenant of South Glamorgan to present us with The Queens Award and open our new oligonucleotides laboratory at our Cardiff Site.
